The Water and Sewer Risk Management Pool has an opening for a part-time Office Assistant position available for immediate hire.

About the Water and Sewer Risk Management Pool

The Water and Sewer Risk Management Pool (WSRMP) was created in 1987 in response to the hard commercial insurance market of the early 1980’s that left many public entities without sufficient or affordable insurance.  WSRMP is a public agency which relies solely on its 62 member districts for financial support.  WSRMP has assets in excess of $2.5 million while still providing comprehensive, long-term stable insurance protection to its members including: Property Insurance, General Liability Insurance, Excess Liability Insurance, Business Automobile Insurance, Public Officials Liability Insurance, and Crime Coverage.  WSRMP also provides risk management and loss control services to its members. WSRMP employs a staff of 3.5 FTE employees under the direction of the Executive Director. 

About the Position

Under the general direction of the Executive Director, the Office Assistant will provide assistance for the Water and Sewer Risk Management Pool Staff, relieving them of a variety of administrative detail work including, but not limited to: performing complex and difficult office support assignments; typing materials and documents, composing and proofreading business correspondence, answering the telephone and receiving visitors, providing information and assistance, meeting planning, inputting claims into the Risk Management Information System, and related work as required.

Desirable Qualifications 

Understanding of the basic principles of indexing, filing and recordkeeping systems.

Understanding of modern office methods, procedures and equipment.                               

Understanding of computers and software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, FrontPage and Publisher)              

Ability to perform a full range of agency office support work involving use of independent judgment and requiring accuracy and speed.

Ability to prepare and maintain a variety of files and records.

Ability to type at a rate of at least 45 words per minute.

Ability to write and proofread ordinary business correspondence.

Ability to perform basic bookkeeping procedures.

Ability to input data into a Risk Management Information System (RMIS – claims system) after training.

Ability to arrange meetings, negotiate prices, and coordinate other seminars/meetings with the assistance of the Administrative Analyst.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Ability to work well under pressure and within defined parameters and time frames.

Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public and other staff while providing a wide range of assistance and help.

Salary and Benefits

The hourly rate for this part-time position is $14 to $15 per hour.  This position if for up to 29 hours per week. Hours are somewhat flexible. This part-time position offers no benefits, paid vacation or holidays.
