S.O.R.T. MEETING MINUTES

 

April 10, 2002 – Pool Office

 

Present:

¨       There was no March meeting due to the Respiratory Protection workshop.

 

¨       Robert opened the meeting at 9:00am

 

¨       Larry Benfield with Alderwood introduced Darin Wolfe, the district’s new Safety Coordinator.

 

¨       Dan and other SORT members discussed the Respiratory Protection workshop.

 

¨       LAST MONTH”S PROGRAMS

·         Chlorine Safety – Committee made recommendations.  Randy will revise and bring a final draft to the next meeting.

·         Annual Review of Programs – Final comments made.  Ready to be printed.

·         Lockout/Tagout – Committee recommended changes.  Robert will bring back next month for review.

·         Hazard Communication – Tabled until next month.

·         Meter Reader – Tabled until next month.

 

¨       POOL REPRESENTATIVE

·      Bloodborne Pathogens – Dan notified committee that BBP class was postponed.  SORT recommends holding the class in the Fall.

·      Coastal Video/Web-based Training – Not much interest from SORT in this product.  Some SORT members use Instant OSHA and recommend it based on cost and effectiveness.

·      Olympic View – Joe Thompson has only attended two SORT meeting in 2001 and none this year.  Dan asked for direction from the group on what to do.  They recommended that Dan contact Joe and find out if he plans to attend SORT meetings this year.  If not, could someone else from Olympic View attend.

 

¨       VIDEO REVIEW

·         Pool 95 – Ergonomics Awareness and Education: L&I produced this video and it is part of a packet designed to help employers comply with the new ergonomics standard.  SORT believes this video is well done and should be kept in the library.

 

¨       ROUNDTABLE

 

¨       The meeting adjourned at 3:00 p.m.

 

¨       The next meeting will be May 8th at Karcher Creek Sewer District in Port Orchard.
