¨ Darin opened the meeting at 9:00am.

¨ Dan informed the committee that Patty Shank would not be coming to SORT for a while. She is undergoing surgery and will be off work for up to six weeks. She plans to come back to SORT in the fall.

¨ NEW PROGRAMS

Trenching & Shoring – Darren Podraza reviewed the program and has no recommendations. He will bring it to the next meeting for the entire committee to review.
Safety Orientation – Kurt Oakland has some recommendations for change that he will bring to the next meeting.
Back Injury Prevention – Dan discussed the changes made. The committee wants to review them and provide feedback at the next meeting.

¨ SPECIAL GUEST

· Mark Close with Labor & Industries came to discuss the recent change the department has made with the Confined Space regulations. He gave the committee a copy of the new program that is now part of the core codes. The group spent a great deal of time discussing permitted versus non-permitted spaces.

¨ ROUNDTABLE

Robert, Keith and John will begin reviewing our Confined Space program in light of the changes that L&I has made. They should be ready with a draft by September.
The committee discussed the need to move the June meeting due to conflicts. It is tentatively scheduled to take place June 29^th at Cedar River. Keith is checking on the availability of his district for this day.
