¨ Robert opened the meeting at 9:17am in Erics absence.
¨ The committee discussed some options to help control costs for lunch. Some ideas mentioned include:
· Sack lunch once or twice a year
· Less expensive meals (sub sandwiches, fast food)
· Forgoing Pool-paid lunches and replacing them with one nice meal a year
The committee asked Dan to provide a budget amount for SORT so that they can further evaluate their options.
· Hazard Communication Wayne was not present so this program will be tabled until further notice.
· Ladder Safety Eric brought a draft to review. The committee made some comments that Eric will incorporate into the next draft. He will bring it back for further review at the July meeting.
· Slips, Trips and Falls a draft will be ready by the next meeting.
¨ Jim suggested adding a network/roundtable session to each meeting to give members an opportunity to discuss current issues faced by the members. The rest of the committee agreed so it will be added at the next meeting.
Clint
is working on a permitting process for district employees to follow when
working in trenches. He passed out
samples of forms that he has been reviewing and wanted the committee to comment
on the best way for him to address this issue.
· Welding, Cutting and Brazing committee gave comments. Robert will provide the final copy to the Pool for printing and distribution.
· Behavior Analysis While the video was well done, it has little application for district use and is not recommended for the library.
· Fall Protection Workshop The workshop is scheduled for August 8th 8-12 at Coal Creek. This is on the same day as the SORT meeting. The committee discussed whether they should still hold a meeting that day after the workshop. Most members felt that there wasnt enough time to make it worthwhile. We are also scheduled to hold the SORT meeting at Olympic View that month. It will be swapped with Coal Creek, which is the scheduled meeting place for December.
· Respiratory Protection/PPE No one has come forward from SORT to take the lead on developing this workshop. We will need some instructors/facilitators in place by July or the workshop will be cancelled. Dan will email everyone to see if there is any interest.
¨ Jim raised some concerns he is facing at his district regarding respiratory protection. The committee discussed some alternatives for Jim to consider.
¨ Kurt took the group on a tour of the district facilities.
¨ Dan solicited the group for articles. Some suggestions included:
· Ask SORT hard hats: Robert
· Traffic Control Supervisor: Drew
· Sewer treatment plant issues: Randy
Dan will contact these members and ask for articles.
· Robert distributed some information on modifying hard hats. According to these manufacturers, the hard hats can be modified to wear backwards.
¨ The meeting adjourned at 3:00 p.m.
¨ Next meeting at Cedar River on July 11.
